Most editing and proofreading jobs are handled using Microsoft Word's Track Changes feature to allow the author to personally review and approve or reject each suggestion. Comments will be used for additional guidance and suggestions.

In a single round of editing, I will completely read and edit the text from start to finish, followed by a separate software-assisted evaluation for potential issues, which are manually reviewed and adjusted. After the author's review and adjustments, I will evaluate the changes to help wade through the editing marks, edit those new additions, and produce a clean copy for you. I also run a set of consistency checks at this point to help eliminate some common errors leftover from edits.

In many instances, it is wise to go through a second round of editing. It is often wise to at least handle one round of manual proofreading as well.

I offer developmental editing, line editing, copy editing, proofreading, and production proofing. If I do not feel as though I am the right fit as your editor, I will make this known immediately. I typically have a referral that I feel may be a good choice for your specific manuscript.
