Mentorship

Mentorship for aspiring writers, freelancers, and publishers is offered to ages 12 and up!

With younger children, parents are welcome to join their child during mentorship sessions, will be kept on all email exchanges, and are expected to have some level of involvement as their time permits. Let's work together to foster creativity and the hard work it takes to be a great writer.

Creative writing. Looking to become a better writer? Just like being a great creative writer, mentorship isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. My passion has long been working with first-time authors of all ages. As a mentor, I can help guide your storytelling, improve your grammar, encourage you to know when to break literary "rules," and tighten up your voice to reflect your unique point of view. I can stick along with you for the entire journey or help you through rough patches.

Freelance career. Looking to start a career in freelance writing, book design, editing, or otherwise? I've been working for myself for 13 years with emphasis on content creation, writing, editing, book design, and publishing both in print and digital formats. I have deep knowledge of finding clients, landing the job, and building the career from the ground up. Unlike many careers, there isn't really any perfect training for freelance workers, and as a result, a lot of freelancers starting out don't really have a reliable source of help while troubleshooting problems with their current contracts. I'm here to help you turn a side gig into a full-time gig.

Choosing and working with a mentor or consultant is an important decision. Mentorship is very high level consultation touching on personal and industry aspects as needed. I love to start by exchanging a few emails to see if we're likely to be a good team. Not every match is perfect.

Rates are charged hourly for most mentorship clients, but certain exceptions may be granted for disadvantaged and low-income students.
